Here are some of the Japanese characters. If your document is not showing correctly, then first check that the encoding for that program and font supports Japanese.

Japanese kanji

Japanese grammar rules

Japanese is an agglutinative language. Nouns have no grammatical gender, number and articles, therefore they are noninflecting (although nouns can take politeness prefixes).

There is no differentiation between mass and count nouns.

Japanese formatting rules

Short date formatyyyy.mm.dd.
e.g. 2016/03/17 or 平成 17/3/16
Long date formatyyyy 年 M 月 d 日 or gg y 年 M 月 d 日
e.g. 2016 年 3 月 17 日 or 平成 23 年 3 月 16 日
